Bar Bacchus is situated in the beautiful, traditional Algarvean Farmhouse building of the famous Porches Pottery. It is situated on the EN125, 0.5km west of the village of Porches, between Lagoa and Alcantarilha.

The café is decorated with hand painted tiles and fine examples of the pottery produced by the Swift family. The traditional theme continues outside where there are beautifully shaded terraces. A recent addition is a decked sun terrace perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine and enjoying a delightful lunch, al fresco.

We are open throughout the year from 9.00am until 5.30pm from Monday to Friday, and 10.00pm until 3.00 pm on Saturdays. Free Wi-fi is also available to customers.

Breakfast is served until 11.00 and lunch is served from 12.00 until 2.30. Homemade soup is available daily, as is a homemade quiche of the day which is served with salad. On Sundays from November until March we serve a traditional Sunday Roast.

There is a wide ranging selection of freshly made baguettes, seeded baps and salads. In the winter months jacket potatoes with delicious fillings are also available.

During the summer months in addition to the baguettes and baps there is also an appealing choice of classic salads including Chicken Caesar, Tuna Niçoise and Greek Salad all with authentic homemade dressings.

Freshly baked homemade cakes are available throughout the day, a perfect accompaniment to tea or coffee.

Private Functions and Events

Bar Bacchus is the ideal setting for any kind of event or celebration. Its convenient location and ample car parking means it is often used by many groups and societies as a venue for meetings and get togethers.
